Millipore Launches Family of Solid-Phase Extraction Cartridges

Product news

Millipore is announcing a new family of solid phase extraction (SPE) cartridges featuring 3M™ Empore™ extraction disks membranes.

Empore membranes produce clean extracts and minimize particle fines to potentially extend LC-MS/MS column life and reduce instrument downtime. Anticipated availability of the Milli-SPE™ Cartridges is second quarter 2006. In 2005 Millipore began marketing and supporting 96-well Multi-SPE™ Extraction Plates that also feature 3M Empore extraction disk membranes for higher throughput applications.

SPE is often the preferred method for isolating and concentrating analytes at low detection levels because it eliminates the interferences that contribute to signal suppression. SPE yields clean, concentrated analyte solutions that allow improved signal-to-noise (S/N) ratios and lower limits of quantitation (LOQs) in LC-MS/MS analysis.

Milli-SPE™ Cartridges will be available in a selection of sorbents (C2, C8, and C18; Universal Resin; and Mixed Phase Cation resin) to meet a broad range of application needs. The cartridges feature low elution volumes, resulting in higher analyte concentrations and increased sensitivity. Empore solid-phase extraction membranes also eliminate channeling and reduce the risk of analyte loss that can occur with other packed particle bed SPE devices, while maintaining fast sample flow rates when processing biological fluids.
