Millipore Introduces Protein Blotting Sandwiches for High Throughput Labs

Product news

Millipore today announced the availability of Immobilon™-P Blotting Sandwiches pre-cut to match the most commonly used pre-cast electrophoresis gels.

These blotting sandwiches offer convenience and time savings for high throughput labs using chemiluminescent or chromogenic detection methods.

The Immobilon-P Blotting Sandwiches consist of one sheet of Immobilon-P transfer membrane with two sheets of chromatography-grade blotting filter paper. Immobilon-P transfer membrane is a 0.45 µm polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) membrane for binding proteins transferred from a variety of gel matrices.

The pre-cut blotting filter paper used in the blotting sandwiches is also available separately for laboratories using transfer methods that require more than two sheets of filter paper.

Western BlottingWestern blotting equipment is used to transfer and identify specific proteins within a sample, reveal protein modifications, as well as give a semi-quantitative estimation of their concentration. Western blotting equipment includes all apparatus necessary to transfer proteins from gel to membrane and subsequent processing steps. Protein transfer can be performed by electroblotting with wet, semi-dry and dry transfer systems onto nitrocellulose and PVDF membranes. Blocking, washing and labeling of membranes follows, involving buffers, blocking reagents, blotting / incubation trays, labeling reagents, immunoblotting assays, antibodies and conjugates. Automated equipment for these steps is available to accelerate your lab workflow. Finally, detection and imaging of proteins can be conducted using gel documentation and imaging systems.
