Microscan, the number-one brand of embedded clinical barcode readers and leading innovator of machine vision solutions for the life sciences, announces that it will demonstrate micro-sized OEM solutions for clinical instruments from Booth #4349 at the 2015 AACC Clinical Lab Expo, July 28-30 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A.

Microscan’s embedded barcode readers and machine vision inspection cameras are designed to meet precise requirements for form, fit, and function for the life of clinical instruments. From the world’s smallest machine vision smart camera, Vision MINI, to the highest-speed embedded laser barcode scanner, MS-3, Microscan offers powerful miniature technologies to meet OEM needs for diverse applications. Manufacturers can easily embed components to automate processes like specimen and reagent identification and tracking, tube cap presence and absence, cap type and color identification, dimensional measurements such as tube height and diameter, automated alignment and robotic guidance, and FDA UDI compliance validation within devices and instruments.

Microscan cameras pack complete functionality within tiny packages, including built-in imaging, lighting, autofocus, and processing power, eliminating the need for peripheral equipment. Corner-exit cabling (RS-232, USB, and Ethernet) offers the tightest fit within space-constrained installation environments. Advanced optics enable devices to read codes and inspect elements at variable distances and orientations, providing the greatest freedom in device mounting. Once installed, Microscan devices are remotely adjustable via simple software interfaces to change focus and barcode type, program input and output, and even upgrade to complex machine vision inspection functionality without needing physical access to the device. These features future-proof clinical instruments with scalability to meet new challenges as requirements change, eliminating the need for mounting adjustments or redesigns.

At Clinical Lab Expo, Microscan will offer a first-ever preview of new hardware innovations slated to join its product line later this year. Setting the next benchmark in device size, configurability, and performance to meet any specific application requirement, these new cameras will lead the industry for flexibility in the most space-constrained installations. The complete engine and camera platform has been designed with life science and OEM applications in mind, focused on incredible power on an incredibly small scale, and can be manufactured for years to accommodate exact customer requirements. The final product will offer complete agility in integration, to perform any automated data acquisition or inspection task in a limited space. Users can select from a range of hardware configurations as well as choose their device capability, from basic barcode reading to full machine vision for guidance, dimensional measurements, tube cap presence, color identification, and more. Driven by Microscan’s user-focused engineering, anyone without barcode or machine vision experience can easily install one of these devices into new or existing systems to outperform competitive instruments for speed, precision, adaptability to changing criteria, and the longevity of its components.

Visitors to Clinical Lab Expo can be the first to see these cameras in active demonstrations from Microscan’s booth #4349 and discuss custom projects with Microscan’s solutions team.
