Merck Millipore Introduces New Virtual Conference: "5-Star LC-MS Practices"

20 Nov 2014

Industry news

Merck Millipore, the Life Science division of Merck KGaA, has announced that it will hold its 2014 virtual conference entitled "5-Star LC-MS Practices" on December 2 and 3, 2014. The conference will address the need for the use of high-quality tools in Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS), including five major types of materials: ultrapure water, solvents, reagents, filters, and liquid chromatography columns. During the conference, Merck Millipore experts from around the world will present a series of webinars focusing on LC-MS best practices for their respective areas.

Virtual conference participants will learn why the use of "5-star" materials is critical for their LC-MS work, and how they can maximize their research using a variety of tips and tricks explained in the webinars. Each presentation will be followed by an interactive Q&A session, providing attendees with the opportunity to consult with the speakers about their own specific research. In addition, participants will be able to download data, abstracts, videos, and scientific articles from Merck Millipore's Resource Library.

LC-MSLC-MS (liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry) systems and equipment are used for separation and quantitative analysis of complex mixtures, combining liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry. Quantify proteins, contaminants, pesticides or screen for drug metabolites with a high level of sensitivity. LC-MS systems and equipment include reverse phase, normal phase and specialized columns integrated with various MS detectors such as time-of-flight (TOF), quadrupole, orbitrap or ion trap mass analyzers. LC-MS/MS instruments equipped with a qTOF or triple quadrupole analyzer give greater sensitivity and resolving power to your analysis. It provides detailed information about the structure, composition, and properties of compounds and is widely used across fields such as environmental monitoring, materials science, drug discovery and development, food and beverage testing, and wider chemical research. Key MS techniques include tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS), liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LS-MS) and inductively coupled plasma (ICP-MS). Choosing from these wide range of techniques and technologies can be a daunting task, so keep up to date with scientific applications, performance expectations, and customer reviews here all in one place.
