Product news

PickPen® magnetic particle technology from Bio-Nobile offers remarkable improvements to the conventional magnetic bioseparation. Moving particles, not liquids allows gentle isolation steps and high quality purified product. The PickPen® method also enables a visual control of the process and simple optimization of purification protocols. The method eliminates strong external magnetic fields and centrifugal forces by collecting the magnetic particles from the sample vessel. This is especially beneficial in the DNA purification applications.

The MagRo™ 96-M magnetic tool comprises 96 proprietary PickPen® magnets. Combined with the unique PickPen® method high throughput 96 well plate processing is achieved, using deep wells plates or standard plates or combination of these to achieve sample concentration. The compact size gives the best sample number to desk space ratio available.

The open design of MagRo™ 96-M enables easy integration with liquid handlers, robotic arms and other laboratory equipment. Integration and flexibility is further enhance as the MagRo™ 96 can be configured for both landscape and portrait orientation of the plates.

Following High Throughput applications can be performed with MagRo™ 96-M:

  • gDNA and plant DNA purifications
  • Gene expression studies, mRNA or total RNA
  • Protein purification, His tag or GST tag
  • PCR and Gel fraction clean up
  • Multiplexing applications

In Germany Bio-Nobile’s instruments and products are marketed by BERTHOLD TECHNOLOGIES.

Microplate readers are generally distinguished by their mode of detection. Types include absorbance, luminescence, fluorescence intensity, fluorescence polarization, TRF / FRET and multimode microplate readers. Microplate readers deliver a high throughput of samples by reading multiple wells simultaneously, with the 96-well format the most commonly used. As a result, microplate readers are often used in the drug discovery, bioassays, research and pharmaceutical industries for screening applications. Microplate loading can also be automated, with robotic microplate stackers to increase throughput.
