Product news

The CETI Magnum range of research grade microscopes is at the cutting edge of ergonomic design for routine daily use in today’s laboratories.

The range comprises fourteen models for sample examination via bright field, positive phase contrast, polarisation and fluorescence examination techniques. In addition, solar powered options are available where power supplies are either intermittent or non existent.

The units come with an Abbe condenser and full Koehler illumination; The 30º inclined head piece has full 360º rotation but can be locked in position once the desired viewing position has been selected. The large 10x, 20 mm eyepieces provide an excellent field of view. These can be substituted with 16x eyepieces if desired.

The reversed objective turret has a five objective capacity. The objectives are available in achromatic, semi planachromatic, planachromatic and also infinity corrected configurations dependant on the individual requirement. The unit is provided with four objectives (4x, 10x, 40x and 100 x oil) as standard while the fifth position allows for an additional objective to be added from the wide range of extra magnifications available.

The stage mechanism provides full X-Y movement via the drive stem, which is located on the right hand side of the microscope. This stem is elongated to allow for operation without the operator having to raise their wrist from the bench. The fine focus control behind the stage driver is a flattened disc with indent s for finger operation, which permits both fine focus control and stage movement by the right hand. A conventional focus knob is provided on the left hand side for use if preferred.

The unit is powered by a 20W halogen bulb which is easily interchangeable. The fluorescence microscope comes with either epi fluorescence (reflected light) powered by a 100W Mercury HBO bulb or via transmitted light using an innovative and economic LED powered fluorescence system.

All microscopes have the option of a trinocular head to which a variety of cameras can be attached. Uses range from simple image capture to complete image analysis through a USB camera connected to a PC.

MicrobiologyMicrobiology is the study of microorganisms including protists, prokaryotes, fungi, and, often, viruses. Microorganisms are a useful research tool as genetic vectors and, in immunology, for antibiotic susceptibility testing, cellular biology and genetics. Microorganisms commonly grow readily in incubators with microbial culture media; this can contain chromogenic supplements to differentiate between cell lines. Estimate your culture’s density of microorganisms with colony counters, or screen and select colonies for desirable clones with automated colony pickers. Additionally, equipment is available to monitor environments for the presence of microbes and identify with microbial identification instruments. Clinical Trials are a phased process (Phase 0, Phase I, Phase II, Phase III and Phase IV) which begins after initial preclinical testing.Light MicroscopyLight microscopes or optical microscopes are used to visualize microscale objects under magnification, including cells, clinical specimens and materials. Lab equipment for light microscopy includes confocal microscopes, fluorescence microscopes, zoom and stereo microscopes. Microscope slides and imaging reagents are available for visualizing samples, as well as various microscope stages and incubators for large or temperature-sensitive samples.
