This year’s Webinar of the Year is awarded to Sarah Stahl-Rommel, Microbiologist at JSC NASA, in association with LGC Biosearch Technologies. The webinar, titled ‘How NASA scientists brought real time microbial profiling to the International Space Station’, available to watch on demand, discusses how NASA's swab-to-sequencer method of real-time microbial monitoring has been streamlined to be completed by a non-trained crew member in an extreme environment. Stahl-Rommel also explains how NASA is using customized reagents to enable environmental and human health diagnostics in real-time.

Life Sciences Editorial Article of the Year

The winning article is titled ‘Exploring the power of super-resolution microscopy: Unveiling the unseen’ and features technology from Bruker.

This article explores the advancement of super-resolution microscopy enabling researchers to generate exceptionally high-resolution images that provide invaluable insights across various disciplines. Winfried Wiegraebe delves into the benefits of single-molecule localization microscopy (SMLM), how it works, and its applications in different fields.

Life Sciences Video of the Year – in partnership with The Scientists' Channel®

This year’s winning video is awarded to a presentation titled 'CRISPR-Cas9: A transformative tool for treating debilitating genetic disease', produced in collaboration with Thermo Fisher Scientific. In this interview Dr. Evangelos Kiskinis, Assistant Professor of Neurology & Physiology, Northwestern University, shares his work using patient-specific iPSC-derived systems to understand how rare genetic mutations impact the function of human neuronal subtypes and contribute toward neurological diseases such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) or pediatric forms of epilepsies.

Life Sciences Email of the Year

The winner in the Email of the Year category goes to ‘Introducing ioSensory Neurons - Human iPSC-derived sensory neurons built for reliable nociception assays’, from bit.bio. The winning email featured bit.bio's ioSensory Neurons which were built to address the challenge of finding a physiologically relevant in vitro cell model with consistent nociceptor marker expression and functionality.
