Product news

LI-COR® Biosciences has teamed up with Molecular Targeting Technologies, Inc. to offer PSVue® 794 a near-infrared fluorescent probe for researchers who have the need to detect bacteria, apoptotic and necrotic cells, or other anionic membranes for in vivo or in vitro use.

“PSVue 794 binds to the phosphatidylserine (PS) residues exposed on the cell surface of apoptotic cells, making it a more cost-effective alternative to fluorescently labeled Annexin V for various cell death assays,” says Shawn Mischnick, LI-C0R technical product specialist. “This probe is also suitable for high-throughput screening assays.”

PSVue 794 binds to a variety of cell types that have negatively charged phospholipids exposed on their membranes, including necrotic cells, Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, activated cells, tumor vascular endothelial cells, and viruses. The near-infrared fluorescent signal can be imaged on the LI-COR Pearl® Impulse or Odyssey® CLx Imaging System.

ELISA often comes in kit format, with pre-selected antibody pairs to detect specific proteins or biomarkers of diseases such as diabetes and obesity, or cardiovascular and neurological disorders. Detection is made possible with chemiluminescent, fluorescent or colorimetric substrates and detection instruments such as microplate / ELISA readers. Other kits available include: Enzyme-linked immunospot (ELISPOT) assays for the quantification of protein-producing cells and chemiluminescent immunoassays (CLIA) kits. Explore a range of a gel imaging systems, densitometers, scanners, transilluminators or UV lamp + CCD cameras for your image analysis solutions. Colorimetric, fluorescent and/or radioisotopic samples can be visualized and documented for further analysis. Fluorescence can be detected and measured for different purposes using microplate readers, fluorescence microscopes, fluorescence scanners, and flow cytometers.
