SPE, Evaporation, GPC – fully automated, modular und flexible: the robotic system FREESTYLE™ of LCTech GmbH.

At analytica 2014 LCTech GmbH will presents its latest solutions for automated sample preparation in hall A2, booth 400B. The diverse systems and devices facilitate the work in laboratories significantly.

The robotic system FREESTYLE™
FREESTYLE™ Basic acts as the core system and contains important functions, such as the xyz-robotics, injection pump, valves and a needle for sample transfer or for pipetting, diluting etc. There are multiple possibilities to extend the modular and flexible platform:
• SPE module for the automated processing of different SPE columns: 1 - 15 mL cartridges or LCTech glass columns
• EVAporation module for swift and precise concentration of samples to a pre-selected volume of between 0.5 and 5.0 mL
• GPC module (Gel Permeation Chromatography) for sample clean-up via size exclusion chromatography

FREESTYLE ThermELUTE™
The newest FREESTYLE module for the Mykotoxin analysis enables the handling from raw extract to the ready chromatogram without any manual working steps. The unique technology breaks the antibodytoxin-bond with water and heat. Afterwards the water is quantitatively and directly eluted into the HPLC sample loop. The results are more sensitive (ppt instead of ppb) and the throughput increases to 500 samples per week.

DEXTech™
The new LCTech system, DEXTech™, developed for dioxin analysis (PCDD/F and PCB) is suitable for all kinds of food and feed samples as well as environmental samples. The handy stand-alone device is easy to install and to operate. DEXTech™ requires less solvents and time compared to manual sample preparation and saves additional time by utilizing the cost-efficient ready-to-use columns.

Further exhibits
• AcceCLEAN™ – a competitive system for automated processing of three SPE or IAC columns simultaneously.
• The EluVac vacuum manifold allows simultaneously processing up to 20 samples under vacuum with controlled, reproducible flow rate.
• A robust UV derivatization module for every-day work – UVE™- Derivatizer.
• Post-column derivatization with Pinnacle PCX of Pickering for the analysis of amino acids according to Pharmacopeia 5.0.

Size Exclusion ChromatographySize exclusion chromatography (SEC) is a liquid chromatographic technique used to separate and identify molecules based on their size, including polymers, proteins, nanoparticles & nucleic acid. SEC is further subdivided into gel filtration chromatography (GFC) and gel permeation chromatography (GPC) when an aqueous or organic mobile phase is used respectively. HPLC-based SEC systems and columns are available for analytical separation alongside SEC spin columns or filters to prep samples for many protocols. Multiple formats are available for conducting SPE, including prepacked SPE cartridges, disks and microplates, as well as SPE sorbent powders for manual packing. SPE systems can be used to automate the process and extract multiple samples at once. Solid-phase microextraction (SPME) and supported liquid extraction (SLE) products are also available in the same formats. Such processes use instruments for assays like cell based assays and ELISA, for sample preparation like shakers, centrifuges and incubators, and for analysis such as sequencing and western blot analyzers. Useful features of robotic instruments include speed, reproducibility, barcode readers, software and automation.Robotic WorkstationsRobotic workstations are automated platforms enabling the user to perform high-throughput, multi-application processes, from sample preparation tasks such as PCR set-up, DNA purification and NGS library preparation, to integrated sample prep and analysis workstations. Automation makes processes consistent, fast, precise and fully walk-away.
