AAPS has announced the opening and closing plenary speakers for the 2025 National Biotechnology Conference (NBC), taking place May 4–7 in Boston, MA, USA.

Nikhil Munshi, M.D., Director of Basic and Correlative Science at Jerome Lipper Multiple Myeloma Center of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, will deliver the opening plenary on Sunday, May 4, at 15:00 ET.

Dr. Munshi is an international leader in the oncology field. He completed fellowships at Johns Hopkins Oncology Center and Indiana University Medical Center.

Andrew Lo, Ph.D., a Charles E. and Susan T. Harris Professor at the MIT Sloan School of Management will examine the current state of biotech funding and future opportunities during the closing plenary on Wednesday, May 7, at 15:00 ET. His current research examines new financial and business models for drug and device development and healthcare delivery.

Dr. Lo will also participate in the executive panel, 'Developability and Due Diligence: How to Assess, Draw, and Sometimes End the Road(map) for New and Unusual Modalities,' scheduled for May 5 at 08:00. at the National Biotechnology Conference.

“I am eagerly anticipating the groundbreaking insights from our distinguished plenary speakers. In the opening session, Dr. Munshi will explore the transformative advancements revolutionizing the field of oncology,” AAPS 2025 NBC Scientific Programming Committee Chair Prathap Nagaraja Shastri, Ph.D., said.

“At the closing, Dr. Lo will examine innovative funding and business models in the pharmaceutical industry — an essential discussion as we venture into the emergence of novel modalities targeting a wide array of disease areas. Prepare for an exhilarating and insightful experience!”

The two plenaries bookend a scientific program that follows two tracks: Advances in Discovery, Formulation, and Delivery of New Modalities and Novel Strategies to Advance Biotherapeutic Development.
