IDT OligoCards: Oligos the Easy Way

Product news

Integrated DNA Technologies (IDT), a world leader in oligonucleotide production, has today announced that its unique and successful OligoCard scheme is being rolled-out across Europe. The IDT OligoCard works like a phone card, so a single purchase enables research groups to prepay for any number of future oligo orders. Each card has a unique number and PIN and can be used online to order securely, direct from the IDT website, eliminating delays due to multi-step internal order processes.

Bonnie Barney, IDT’s Sr. VP of European Sales and Advertising said, “If a researcher wants to order oligos at 18:00 on Friday, we believe they should be able to. With Our OligoCard they can – no paperwork, no delays, no waiting.”

OligoCard can be topped up as and when required, and therefore is an excellent way of maximizing grant level maintenance by allowing users to place unused funding on the cards near the end of a grant term, or to ensure that earmarked funding is used solely for oligos. As a result, researchers will always be able to order the oligos they want to order, when they want to order them.

Account information, such as the remaining balance and all the order activity from a lab, or group of labs, can be tracked and processed very efficiently through the online interface. Furthermore, groups can have multiple cards for different projects or funding streams and therefore establishing balances on each individual card allows for easy enforcement of credit limits.

OligoCard is the easy way to pay for oligos.

Genome AnalysisGenomics, the study of genomes, includes functional genomics, evolutionary genomics and comparative genomics. There are many genomic technologies such as DNA sequencing of whole genomes, computational biology and bioinformatics. DNA and nucleic acids must be isolated and concentrated from cells for analysis with kits, automated analyzers and software. Other useful technologies for studying genomics include PCR, microarrays and electrophoresis.OligonucleotidesOligonucleotides are small nucleic acid polymers, usually less than 20 bases in length. Oligonucleotides can be made via enzymatic cleavage or more commonly by chemical synthesis with polymerases. Their use includes FISH, southern blots, microarrays and as primers in PCR. High fidelity synthesis kits and detection systems are available for easy production and detection, respectively.
