Hollison Technologies now extends its products and services to microbiological contamination in finished food products such as cereals, dry pet food and powders. This range expansion increases capabilities for food safety.

“In addition Hollison has technology and capabilities for sampling and detecting bacteria in liquids as well as on surfaces.” said Anthony D. Bashall, Hollison’s EVP of Technology and Corporate Development. “Liquids may include beverages, sauces and even peanut butter. We are developing, using the same technology, systems which can be applied to extract microbiological contamination on the surfaces of solid foods such as fruits, vegetables, meat, poultry and even eggs. This extraction technology can be applied to ensuring the surfaces of food processing equipment are also contamination free.”

Hollison’s goal is to “Manage Contamination not Recalls™” as we view any recall as a potential failure in the food safety system. Employing Hollison’s Patent Pending technology and process the objective is to detect contamination before the commodity or food product enters the food supply chain. To that end, Hollison supplies a complete system of integrated components for collection, detection / identification and tracking of chemical, biological or radiological contaminants.

UHPLC and HPLCHigh performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and ultra high performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC), also known as UPLC, are analytical techniques used to separate, identify and quantitate components of complex mixtures including biological samples such as proteins and lipids as well as chemical mixtures of pesticides, drugs and oils. Both techniques are liquid chromatographic methods but differ by operating pressures (HPLC < 6000 psi < UHPLC ). Components of HPLC and UHPLC systems include columns, detectors, pumps, autosamplers and column heaters. Explore a range of UHPLC and HPLC columns for your specific sample needs including reverse phase, normal phase, ion exchange, HILIC, ion exclusion and size exclusion columns. This can be done in large quantities or small. Preparative chromatography systems are usually low to medium pressure liquid chromatographs that are semi-automated. Explore a range of preparative columns and fraction collectors. Contamination with a variety of pathogens can be prevented with adequate temperature control, hygiene and labeling. Food samples can be tested using GC/MS, HPLC, SPE, and qPCR to ensure their adherence to regulations.
