Product news

Syrris, a leading chemistry automation product innovator, has introduced the new Atlas turbidity system, designed for monitoring and controlling crystallization, emulsion and suspension processes. The Atlas system enables turbidity to be examined and modified in jacketed reactors and round bottom flasks etc. by controlling the temperature as well as any additions to the vessel. This extremely accurate system benefits from the high signal to noise ratio of the turbidity probe, ensuring that precise data is obtained. Turbidity is then easily visualized on the Atlas Base unit and real-time graphs can be generated using the Atlas software, in the full controlled lab reactor mode.

This highly sensitive system has a simple 2 point calibration, resulting in a 0 – 100% turbidity range. Automatic data logging enables the user to monitor the results directly from the user-friendly Atlas Base and conveniently download any data onto a USB device without PC control. Furthermore, with the Atlas PC software, the system can crystallize along a turbidity ramp, allowing the determination of the metastable zone. With a wide temperature range of -80 to >200ºc, the turbidity probe can be used with any Atlas reactor across a wide range of applications such as polymorphism studies, crystal seeding effects scale-up synthesis and process development.

The Atlas Turbidity system is ideal for use in procedures involving crystallization, where it is often essential to ensure downstream processes, such as solids handling, filtration, milling and drying, are consistent and effective.

For more information on Atlas and its extended family of automated lab reactor systems for applications such as calorimetry, infra red analysis, automatic reagent addition and pH control, please visit the company webpage.

Atlas Turbidity System

Syrris Limited

The Atlas Turbidity System is designed for chemists who are interested in monitoring or controlling crystallizations, emulsions, suspensions, etc. The Atlas allows turbidity to be examined and modified by controlling temperature and/or additions to the vessel. Data is displayed on the Atlas Base and can be plotted in real time using the software.

Combinatorial ChemistryCombinatorial chemistry, also known as combichem, is a technique used in drug discovery to create libraries of structurally related compounds. A library is generated by synthesis with a chemical reactor system or by computer-based modeling of compound combinations. When undertaking combinatorial chemistry consider reagents, buffers, resins and standards.Baths and CirculatorsLaboratory baths and circulators are capable of refrigerating and heating to meet the demands of any temperature controlled application.FiltrationFiltration and microfiltration are used to separate solids, particulates or large molecules from fluids (liquid or gases) in order to purify the filtrate. Explore a range of filter formats, including filter paper, plates and membranes for your separation needs. While larger particulates may be separated by gravity filtration, smaller particulates may require additional force for timely separation. Microfiltration equipment includes vacuum filters, as well as positive pressure, crossflow and centrifugal filtration devices. Other meters can also measure the conductivity or dissolved oxygen content of a solution. pH meters, specific ion meters, conductivity meters and dissolved oxygen meters can come as benchtop or portable equipment. A meter’s electrodes can be replaced with easy to clean electrodes or electrodes for difficult media. pH, ion and conductivity meters are typically used in life science research, pharmaceutical testing, food and beverage, environmental and water analysis. It includes a number of techniques covering structural biology, synthetic chemistry and molecular biology. Technologies used in medicinal chemistry include ADME, lab-on-a-chip, high content screening and assay assembly.Process ChemistryProcess chemistry is an important stage of drug development for scaling-up drug production or chemical synthesis reactions. It is useful for optimizing economical and efficient drug production. Process chemistry uses reactors and pump systems as well as reagents, standards and buffers.Protein CrystallographyProtein crystallization is the process of crystallizing purified proteins for 3D structure analysis by x-ray crystallography. The main methods of protein crystallization include sitting drop, hanging drop and microbatch. It is important to control parameters such as pH, temperature and concentration. Following crystallization, detectors and software are used for data collection and analysis.pH and Conductivity MetersIon and pH meters, used for electrochemical techniques and measurements, measure the concentration of specific ions using electrodes (probes) and a meter. Features of ph and ion meters to consider include temperature compensation, auto-calibration, adjustable resolution, measurable range and accuracy. Meters can be handheld, portable, benchtop and modular.CalorimetryCalorimetry is a technique used to determine the heat released or absorbed in a chemical reaction. Calorimeters can be categorized into bomb calorimeters, constant pressure calorimeters, differential scanning calorimeters, isothermal titration calorimeters, X-ray microcalorimeters, heat-loss calorimeters, and high-energy particle calorimeters. The choice of calorimeter depends on the application.
