Product news

Hamilton Robotics has announced that the soon-to-launch CytoScan Automated Target Preparation Solution from Affymetrix, Inc. is built on the customizable Microlab® NIMBUS 96 workstation from Hamilton Robotics. The Affymetrix NIMBUS workstation automates target preparation for the CytoScan Cytogenetics Solution, which offers the broadest coverage and highest performance for detecting human chromosomal aberrations.

"Affymetrix chose to custom-design the NIMBUS workstation to automate sample preparation for its CytoScan Assay because the NIMBUS is a superior product at an affordable price compared to other liquid handling robots on the market. The exciting new system increases sample throughput at least two-fold for laboratories offering the CytoScan Solution for cytogenetic research applications while maintaining the same high performance," says Tanya Petrossian, Ph.D. Global Strategic Product Manager at Affymetrix.

"As an OEM partner, Hamilton Robotics was outstanding," continued Petrossian. "They worked side by side with us onsite during the early product development stage to ensure that the workstation was optimized to fit the requirements of the CytoScan Cytogenetics Solution workflow."

The Microlab NIMBUS 96 is a customizable instrument platform that offers speed, ease of use, and superior pipetting performance in a small footprint for budget-conscious laboratories. The flexible system combines incredibly accurate liquid measurement with software that provides unprecedented workflow control, file handling, and integration with third-party devices. The compact, affordable system allows laboratories to process up to 96 samples at a time.

"Hamilton Robotics is thrilled to partner with Affymetrix to address the challenging requirements of cytogenetic researchers. Our workstations are easily adapted to even the most complex sample preparation needs of both the research environment and the rigid demands of regulated environments,” says Scott Eaton, Director of OEM and International Sales at Hamilton Robotics.

“A custom-built Hamilton NIMBUS workstation offers superior quality for the same or lower price as other products on the market," says Jose Carle, Vice President at Hamilton Robotics. "Our experienced design teams, including application specialists, work closely with customers to ensure the final product perfectly matches the particular needs of the process."
