Product news

The G-Sphere range of Molecular Standards from Phthisis Diagnostics has expanded to include both parasites and viruses. Synthetic controls for Norovirus , both the common GI and GII genogroups, are now available in the UK, exclusively from Alpha Laboratories.

G-Sphere controls provide stable, consistent, safe and abundant material for use in molecular applications such as PCR. Part of the Simply Molecular range, G-Sphere standards contain double stranded DNA genes for parasites or single stranded RNA for viruses which have been designed and synthetically created to serve as genetic surrogate control material.

Ready-to-use and non-hazardous, G-Sphere Standards eliminate the need to extract DNA or RNA from potentially infectious samples. Furthermore, since these Molecular Standards are produced in accordance with FDA cGMP regulations, consistent quality and reproducibility is ensured.

The G-Sphere range also includes standards targeted against 12 different species of Cryptosporidium , 4 types of Plasmodium and other intestinal parasites such as Entamoeba and Microsporidia .

HematologyIn Haematology / Hematology, complete blood cell counts (or full blood counts) are obtained using automated blood count analyzers to enumerate blood cell types.  Hematology also encompasses haemostasis and coagulation, thrombophilia and hemophilia, plasma viscosity and ESR analysis, hemoglobinopathies, cell morphology and haematinic measurement.Clinical MicrobiologyMicrobiology is the study of microorganisms including protists, prokaryotes, fungi, and, often, viruses. Microorganisms are a useful research tool as genetic vectors and, in immunology, for antibiotic susceptibility testing, cellular biology and genetics. Microorganisms commonly grow readily in incubators with microbial culture media; this can contain chromogenic supplements to differentiate between cell lines. Estimate your culture’s density of microorganisms with colony counters, or screen and select colonies for desirable clones with automated colony pickers. Additionally, equipment is available to monitor environments for the presence of microbes and identify with microbial identification instruments.
