Product news

Photostability testing of new drug substances and drug products requires careful control of several variables that can influence results. In addition to illumination sources and exposure levels, the control of temperature and humidity is also essential in order to produce valid photostability testing results.

Temperature increases over the course of testing have been shown to produce an apparent decrease in photostability. Similarly an increase in the relative humidity can also result in a tested drug substance appearing to have poorer photostability than is actually the case.

The 6540 Series Photostability chambers from LTE have been specifically designed to perform near UV and visual light testing with fluorescent lamps in accordance with ICH Q1B Guidelines, Option 2. In addition to precisely controlled lighting levels this second-generation bench top unit also provides complete control over temperature and humidity levels, via an easy to use colour touch-screen interface. Humidity control is achieved through ultrasonic injection and mechanical refrigeration methods whilst the use of a PID controller allows for precise temperature control.

IncubatorsLaboratory incubators are used to provide a stable environment to cultivate and store samples in, giving you optimal control of temperature, humidity, oxygen and CO2 levels. Incubators are necessary equipment for cell culture and microbial research. Control temperature with heated or refrigerated incubators, or the levels of CO2 and oxygen with CO2 incubators. Using environmental chambers, create a humid climate for testing samples.
