Product news

ESA Biosciences, Inc., has announced that it will be exhibiting its latest products for neuroscience research at the 5th Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS) meeting in Vienna, Austria (8-12th July 2006).

Visitors to FENS stand 406 will be able to see ESA's uniquely versatile CouloChem III detector - the only HPLC electrochemical detector providing amperometric, coulometric, redox, screen, pulse and scan mode operation. Unlike other HPLC-EC detectors, The CouloChem III incorporates DC and Pulse/Scan modes in discrete modules enabling measurement of picogram to femtogram levels of oxidisable or reducible neurochemical compounds.

For neurotransmitter analysis the ESA CoulArray II electrochemical detector works with gradient HPLC systems to provide a 3-dimensional look at monoamines, amino acids and oxidative stress-related analyses with sensitivities three orders of magnitude better than techniques such as photodiode array detection.

Other products on show will include the recently introduced BioStat multimode potentiostat, which enables real-time in vivo measurement of nitric oxide and the CORONA CAD that lets researchers quantitate lipids using HPLC without the cost and complexity of mass spectrometry.

Some of the most important discoveries in brain research have been made with ESA electrochemical detectors, which are ideal where the need for highly sensitive and selective analysis is of paramount importance: for example in measuring neurotransmitters and modulators such as dopamine, norephedrine, serotonin, GABA, and acetylcholine.

Founded in 1968, ESA Biosciences, Inc., is a leading manufacturer and supplier of analytical instruments for the life science, clinical diagnostic, drug discovery and pharmaceutical industries. The company offers a complete line of HPLC systems, components, and advanced detectors, along with a broad range of analytical services.

UHPLC and HPLCHigh performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and ultra high performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC), also known as UPLC, are analytical techniques used to separate, identify and quantitate components of complex mixtures including biological samples such as proteins and lipids as well as chemical mixtures of pesticides, drugs and oils. Both techniques are liquid chromatographic methods but differ by operating pressures (HPLC < 6000 psi < UHPLC ). Components of HPLC and UHPLC systems include columns, detectors, pumps, autosamplers and column heaters. Explore a range of UHPLC and HPLC columns for your specific sample needs including reverse phase, normal phase, ion exchange, HILIC, ion exclusion and size exclusion columns.
