Symyx Technologies, Inc. has announced the availability of Symyx Registration 1.5. This major new release offers R&D organisations of all sizes a flexible, fully featured, Isentris-based approach to building and managing consistent, searchable, and shareable corporate compound registries based on Symyx's industry-leading chemical representation technology. Out-of-the-box integration with Symyx Assay Explorer® biology data management software enables researchers to view chemically registered substances alongside biological assay results, facilitating SAR analysis and the prioritization of new compounds for testing.

"For more than 20 years, Symyx has been the industry leader in compound registration including chemical structure representation, storage, and searching," said Trevor Heritage, president of Symyx Software. "We have worked with customers to provide a flexible compound registration system that R&D organisations can plug into existing or new custom applications, including compound procurement and electronic laboratory notebook software, to consistently and centrally capture chemical information. Such integrated scientific management systems enable scientists to design, execute, analyse and report experimental data faster, easier and less expensively."

Built on the Symyx Isentris® informatics system, Symyx Registration 1.5 automatically verifies drawing conventions, normalises structure data in accordance with corporate representation rules, and checks for uniqueness before assigning corporate identification numbers and storing submitted substances in the corporate compound registry. By superseding and replacing ISIS-based Symyx ChemBio AE software, Symyx Registration 1.5 supports ISIS-to-Isentris migrations while enabling scientists to register chemical compounds, view biological data, and compare chemical and biological data side-by-side entirely in the Isentris environment. Data software can be used for math and stats, technical graphing and image analysis. In addition, software is available for specific data analysis of electrophoresis, densitometry, ELISA and DNA sequencing.Data MiningData mining is an important process for extracting information, patterns and trends from data. Data mining software, databases, reference materials and storage packages are available to process lab data.Molecular Recognition SoftwareMolecular recognition software is widely used to analyze DNA, RNA, proteins and chemicals. The software can be useful for graphical viewing, comparative analyses, high-throughput screening, genomics, proteomics and phylogenetics. Molecular recognition software uses bioinformatics tools and analyses such as BLAST searches and generates structural predictions, 3D structures and sequencing information.Compound LibrariesCompound libraries, or chemical libraries, are used in drug discovery for the identification of potential therapeutics compounds. Used in conjunction with high-throughput screening, the libraries of stored compounds are often generated for specific purposes as a drug target or disease model. Cheminformatics are commonly used when designing a compound library and software can be used to analyze the screening process.
