Olympus chose SEQC - Sociedad Española de Bioquímica Clínica y Pathología Molecular - as the forum to demonstrate for the first time to a professional audience the benefits to “mega” laboratories of linking an AU5400 Clinical Chemistry ultra-high speed analyser with an AU-CONNECTOR.

Delegates to SEQC – one of the most important laboratory medicine congresses in southern Europe – learned for themselves how the AU-CONNECTOR can bring improved productivity, increased flexibility and enhanced archiving to their laboratories.

With an ultra-high throughput of more than 5000 tests/hour, the AU5400 is already well established as the analyser of choice for the growing number of “mega” laboratories in both the US and Europe. Adding an AU-CONNECTOR gives these laboratories the option to improve productivity and throughput by linking to another Olympus chemistry analyser, or consolidate testing by linking to an Olympus AU3000i immunoassay system. To increase automation levels even further, samples can be loaded on to the AU-CONNECTOR, via a new standardised rack tray, from the Olympus OLA 2500 peri-analytical workstation.

The AU-CONNECTOR employs Intelligent Sample Management to optimise sample transport to the respective analysers. Bottlenecks are eliminated and the lowest possible turnaround times are therefore achieved. In addition, Intelligent Sample Management ensures that rerun and reflex tests are handled without disrupting routine work. Calibrators and control samples are handled with high priorities, and finally samples are presented ready sorted for archiving. Furthermore, analysers connected to the AU-CONNECTOR also retain their full stand alone capability.

ImmunologyImmunological techniques measure and characterize immune responses. Immunology kits and analysis systems often use techniques such as ELISA, radioimmunoassay (RIA) and immunodiffusion assays, Immunohistochemistry, and flow cytometry. Immunologists use equipment such as flow Cytometers, plate readers, plate washers and fluorescent microscopes.Cell-Based AssaysCell-based assays are used to monitor the presence, quantity and activities of a desired cellular analyte including drug molecules or biomarkers. This can reveal information on cell health (apoptosis, cytotoxicity, viability and proliferation assays), cell metabolism, cell migration and cell signaling mechanisms. Find the best cell-based assay products, kits and equipment with our peer reviewed product directory: compare products, check customer reviews and receiving pricing direct from manufacturers.Clinical TrialsClinical Trials, an essential part of drug discovery process, assess the safety and effectiveness of a new medication or device in the pharmaceutical industry. Clinical Trials are a phased process (Phase 0, Phase I, Phase II, Phase III and Phase IV) which begins after initial preclinical testing.
