Product news

Shimadzu has announced the release of its UV-1900 UV-VIS spectrophotometer, which is equipped with an ultrafast scan function that enables data acquisition in 29,000nm/min (it takes about three seconds to measure in visible region.), the fastest level in the industry.

The UV-1900 features a large, easy-to-use color touch panel as well as excellent operability, such as support for five languages, including Spanish and Portuguese. In addition, it can perform high-accuracy quantitative analysis, thanks to a proprietary low stray light diffraction grating, the same device used in our top-of-the-range UV-VIS spectrophotometers. Connecting this instrument with Shimadzu's analysis data management system provides integrated data management with various analysis instruments, in an environment compatible with guidelines and regulations related to electronic records and electronic signatures.

LabSolutions UV-Vis, Shimadzu's UV-Vis control software released simultaneously, contributes to data pass/fail judgments via its spectral evaluation functions

Background to The Development

By detecting ultraviolet and visible light passed through or reflected by samples, UV-VIS spectrophotometers are mainly used to identify and quantify substances. They are used for research and development and quality control in a wide range of fields. This type of instrument is increasingly popular and demand for UV-VIS spectrophotometers continues to expand, even in newly emerging economies. Accordingly, when users select an instrument, they focus on cost effectiveness, operability, compliance with various national regulations, and enhanced management functions.

Against this background, the UV-1900 was developed for deployment in an even wider range of regions, including Central and South America. Shimadzu is deploying the UV-1900 worldwide, making the most of the combination with LabSolutions UV-Vis, control software ideal for quality control and integrated management with other models.

Features of the UV-1900 UV-VIS-NIR Spectrophotometer

1. High Performance Matched to a Variety of Sample Analyses

A newly developed ultrafast scan function enables data acquisition in as fast as 29,000nm/min. By performing repeated measurements, the process of sample changes in chemical reactions can be analyzed in a short time. In addition, the UV-1900 incorporates a low stray light diffraction grating, produced in-house. It features excellent spectroscopic capabilities, and is the same device used in our high-end models. As a result, this instrument is capable of high-accuracy quantitative analysis and the detection of low-concentration components.

2. Intuitive Operability Regardless of the User

The touch panel is deployed at the ideal viewing angle based on ergonomics. It can also be operated using the provided stylus pen, which can be stored in the unit. Target analyses can be performed with ease due to the intuitive operation windows that provide support for Japanese, English, and Chinese, as well as Spanish and Portuguese.
3. Compatible with Various Regulations and Guidelines Including FDA 21 CFR Part 11

This instrument achieves a resolution of 1 nm and can perform analyses compliant with the pharmacopeia of various countries. In addition, if the standard control software and optional LabSolutions UV-Vis are connected to a Shimadzu analysis data system, integrated data management can be performed with all the Shimadzu instruments in a laboratory, including chromatographs and infrared spectrophotometers, in an environment compatible with FDA 21 CFR Part 11.

Features of The LabSolutions UV-Vis Control Software

The LabSolutions UV-Vis software is intended for users using UV-VIS spectrophotometers frequently in quality control. It is equipped with functions to make data pass/fail judgments in accordance with configured conditions. Data transfer to spreadsheet software and batch text export of multiple data sets are easy, which improves work efficiency.
