Eppendorf Plate® Deepwell 96 and 384 set new standards in terms of purity, stability, centrifuge and automation compatibility. With innovative optimised well geometry, an exclusive error-safe labelling system and g-safe® stability up to 6,000 x g, the plates deliver first-rate results first time and every time.

Eppendorf Plate Deepwell 96 and 384 incorporate the new RecoverMax® design with conical well bottoms and smooth, rounded corners and transitions for square well plates. These features provide faster pipetting, resuspension and mixing because the liquid collects in the centre of the well bottom, while ‘wicking’ in well corners is prevented to eliminate cross-contamination between wells.

Another major innovation introduced in these plates is the OptiTrack® matrix combining a choice of five vibrant border colours and a high-contrast, UV- and chemical-resistant alphanumeric labelling system. This ensures simple plate orientation, even in stacks, and quick, error-safe identification of plates and wells.

Manufactured using high-purity polypropylene, Eppendorf Plates Deepwell are extremely rugged, with respect to mixing and centrifugation, and designed for complete compatibility with all standard pipetting robots and automated and high-throughput sample processing. Absolutely flat planar surfaces enable reliable repeated manual and automated sealing, while in plate stacks there is no well-nesting so foils are not dented or damaged. Inert, sample-repellent well surfaces are formed solely by the optimised manufacturing process, with no surface coatings whatsoever. Eppendorf LoBind plates are PCR-clean, eliminating the need for special treatment before using the plates.

Dr. Sabine Kühn, Eppendorf Product Manager, comments, ‘With the growing importance of industrial high-throughput applications, the eagerly awaited deepwell plates will be particularly welcomed in life science and healthcare companies, government research organisations, and academic molecular biology, microbiology and cell biology research labs. In all these contexts valuable samples need safe, reliable and loss-free storage, resulting in significant cost benefits from using Eppendorf Plate Deepwell 96 and 384. Reducing cross-contamination and handling errors will cut the quantities of consumables and reagents required to repeat experiments, while faster sample processing and easier automation will save both time and costs.’

Applications examples include preparation and storage of bacterial and yeast cultures; plasmid purification; genotyping; storage of cryocultures, DNA, RNA, PCR products and proteins; protein analysis and active ingredient screening / combinatorial chemistry.

The plates come in four formats: 384/200µl, 96/500µl, 96/1000µl, 96/2000µl; four purity levels: Eppendorf Standard Quality, Eppendorf Sterile, Eppendorf DNA LoBind, Eppendorf Protein LoBind; and five rim colours: white, green, red, blue and yellow. All types are available in both regular and bulk pack, making a grand total of 140 new products. Eppendorf Plates Deepwell conform to the requirements of SBS and IvD and are manufactured according to EN ISO 9001 and EN ISO 13485.

The number of wells microplates contain can range from 6 to 3243 wells, with the 96-well format being the most commonly used. Microplates can come tailored for a range of applications including cell culture, PCR, filtration, storage, non-binding surface, protein crystallization, as well as pre-coated, deep well and normal Standard microplates. Additionally, options for microplate colors include clear , black, white or black with clear bottom and white with clear bottom for absorbance microplate reader applications.
