STEM CELLBANKER® from AMSBIO is a chemically defined freezing medium with optimised formulation for stem cells and iPS cells storage as well as other valuable cells.

In a recent study to determine the best cryopreservation solution to maintain induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells, a team of researchers from the Okayama University Graduate School of Medicine (Japan) compared 12 kinds of commercially prepared cryopreservation solutions and found that STEM CELLBANKER** outperformed the other 11 solutions. The researchers concluded that STEM CELLBANKER** showed the highest cell viability and proliferation of all the solutions tested and can be widely used as it does not require any special skills to use.

Co-author of the study - Hirofumi Noguchi, MD, PhD, Department of Gastroenterological Surgery, Transplant and Surgical Oncology at the Okayama University Graduate School of Medicine commented "iPS cells are a promising alternative to embryonic stem cells and can be used in place of bone marrow cells, stromal cells and adipose tissue-derived stem cells". He added "However, the viability of human iPS cells, like embryonic stem cells, decreases significantly during cryopreservation. A wide variety of cryopreservation solutions have been used, however many are toxic or ineffective for use in extended cryopreservation."

Supplied ready-to-use with a simple usage protocol, STEM CELLBANKER is completely free of serum and animal derived components, and contains only Japanese, European or US Pharmacopoeia graded ingredients. STEM CELLBANKER significantly increases cell viability while maintaining cell pluripotency, normal karyotype and proliferation ability following resuscitation from cryopreservation, even after extended long-term storage. Independent research has demonstrated that hESC, MSCs and iPS cells cryopreserved with STEM CELLBANKER produce significantly higher cell viability (> 90%) over conventional freezing medium, while retaining cell pluripotency, normal karyotype and proliferation ability. Every batch of STEM CELLBANKER cryopreservation medium is performance tested on Jurkat and SK-007 cells. Additional standard evaluations for endotoxins, pH, osmolarity and Mycoplasma contaminants are undertaken to ensure GMP equivalent quality.

Cell / Tissue CultureCell culture or tissue culture is used to study the biology of cells or tissues and to isolate cellular products in an environment which can be manipulated and well defined. Accurately control your culture environment with bioreactors or culture incubators, bind your cells to a surface or together with an extracellular matrix. Distinguish cell types with differential media or proliferate cells with certain characteristics using selective media. Enrich your media with supplements such as growth factors, sera and vitamins. The main methods of protein crystallization include sitting drop, hanging drop and microbatch. It is important to control parameters such as pH, temperature and concentration. Following crystallization, detectors and software are used for data collection and analysis.Evaporators and Freeze DryersCentrifugal evaporation is used for solvent removal from a sample. This is a useful technique for sample concentration or sample drying. Many centrifugal evaporators are modular with a central vacuum pump for generating low pressure. Useful features of evaporators or vacuum ovens include minimal solvent bumping, solvent resistance, computer control, temperature regulation and benchtop design.IpscStem Cell ResearchStem cells have the ability to produce identical daughter cells as well as progeny, which commit and differentiate. Stem cell research has exciting prospects of biomedical applications in cellular disease modeling, pharmaceutical screening, and regenerative medicine.
