Don Whitley Scientific Ltd and European subsidiary Meintrup DWS Laborgeräte GmbH will be teaming up to unveil an exciting new product on Stand 256/Hall B1 at Analytica 2008. The Whitley Hypoxic Workstation has been specifically designed for cellular research applications where tight control over the gas mixture is essential. This new system allows low oxygen tension to be maintained and accurately controls carbon dioxide levels to create ideal hypoxic culture conditions over extended periods of time.

Don Whitley Scientific will also be showcasing its pioneering range of controlled atmosphere workstations. The modular and upgradeable Whitley Workstations offer an unrivalled level of flexibility, and can be designed and manufactured according to individual laboratory requirements. Complementing the larger systems, the compact Whitley DG250 workstation was initially developed to fulfil a need for anaerobic and microaerophillic workstations for laboratories where space was limited or quantities processed could not justify the purchase of a larger capacity unit.

The automated Whitley Jar Gassing System delivers accurate gas mixtures at a fraction of the cost than with gas-generating envelopes, and fits easily into any laboratory routine. Separate cycles from a single cylinder of mixed gas prepare the correct atmospheric conditions for anaerobic or microaerophilic growth.

Other DWS products on show at this event include: a versatile and cost effective bacterial detection method, the Rapid Automated Bacterial lmpedance Technique (RABIT), which is an extremely versatile yet inexpensive system providing real time indication of bacterial growth and the Whitley Automatic Spiral Plater (WASP), which eliminates the need for serial dilutions with a real reduction in cost per test and reproducible results.

Cell / Tissue CultureCell culture or tissue culture is used to study the biology of cells or tissues and to isolate cellular products in an environment which can be manipulated and well defined. Accurately control your culture environment with bioreactors or culture incubators, bind your cells to a surface or together with an extracellular matrix. Distinguish cell types with differential media or proliferate cells with certain characteristics using selective media. Enrich your media with supplements such as growth factors, sera and vitamins. Gas analyzers can be used in supply chain processes and laboratory experiments with portable analyzers for monitoring CO2 and O2 levels as well as trace gases. Regular flow can be produced with gas control modules and flow meters.
