DNASTAR® has announced a new release of their leading protein structure prediction software, NovaFold, that incorporates the award-winning AlphaFold 2 AI system developed by Google-owned DeepMind.

AlphaFold 2 was the top-ranked protein structure prediction method in the CASP14 challenge in 2020, significantly outperforming the other participating teams by determining the structure of proteins with accuracy comparable to laboratory experiments. NovaFold AI powered by AlphaFold 2 enables users to seamlessly utilize the AlphaFold 2 protein structure prediction method within the existing NovaCloud Services interface of Protean 3D to predict the protein structure of an amino acid sequence, then visualize and analyze their results.

Shawn Grass, General Manager at DNASTAR, said, “Like others in the scientific community, we were wowed and excited by the results of the CASP14 challenge and wanted to figure out a way to make this revolutionary protein structure prediction method available to our customers. By integrating AlphaFold 2 into our NovaFold software, we are expanding the options available to our customers who will now be able to predict their structure using the AlphaFold 2 method, in addition to the I-TASSER method that we’ve always provided.”
