Corning Focuses on Robotics Consumables for Genomics Applications at LabAutomation 2011

Corning Life Sciences, together with its subsidiaries Labnet International and Axygen BioScience, are global manufacturers of tools and equipment for cell culture, molecular biology and drug screening.

Corning and Axygen are actively engaged in developing automation consumables that are suited for genomics applications such as Next Generation Sequencing. Our robotic consumables range extends from liquid sensing tips to deep well plates, plates for Real Time PCR, sealing options and DNA isolation kits for sample preparation.

At Lab Automation 2011 they will be showcasing the latest additions to it range of products for automation, including a range of 384-format robotics tips for the Velocity 11 V Prep™ and Bravo™ systems. The V11 tips are made of medical grade polypropylene and have a volume selection of 5 to 70µL and are available in filtered and non-filtered versions.

They will also be introducing robotic tips in 96 filtered and non filtered formats for the Qiagen BioRobot™ system and the Caliper Zymark™ system. The Caliper tips are also available in 384 formats over a wide range of volumes.

Axygen products are manufactured in a clean, controlled state-of-the-art facility and certified RNase-, DNase- and pyrogen-safe.

In addition, Axygen’s new plates for Roche LightCycler® PCR systems will presented. The plates have been designed to save costs and increase efficiencies for LightCycler users, and are manufactured from white polypropylene to improve signal intensity. The plates also have cut-away notches for perfect plate positioning, thin walls for faster heat transfer and an automation friendly SBS footprint. Plates are available in 96 and 384 well formats with a capacity of 10-100µL for the 96 format and 10-20 µL for the 384 format.
