Product news

Available from Porvair Sciences Ltd. are a comprehensive range of high performance 96- and 384-well glass bottom microplates.

Combining the advantageous optical properties of glass, low background and low birefringence, with the versatility of a microplate - the Porvair glass bottom plate range demonstrate higher performance than standard polystyrene plates for fluorescence assays, luminescence detection, scintillation counting and high-resolution microscopy using confocal imaging.

The complete range of glass bottom microplates is available tissue culture treated to optimise cell growth or without surface modification. The high clarity bottom of each plate in the range offers the advantage of easy and exact positioning when used in combination with microscopes.

Based upon a standard microplate format and precision manufactured to be extremely flat (< 100 microns) each Porvair glass bottom microplate is fully compatible with automated liquid handling and robotic devices providing considerable productivity benefits.

Lab-on-a-ChipLab-on-a-chip (LOC) technology uses microfluidic chips, such as microarrays, to perform biochemical assays on a small scale. Benefits of lab-on-a-chip include the small volume of sample required as well as the speed of analysis. In selecting lab-on-a-chip devices consider the assay, cost, reliability, sensitivity and signal to noise ratio.MicroplatesMicroplates are multi-well plates used to increase the throughput of biological investigations. The number of wells microplates contain can range from 6 to 3243 wells, with the 96-well format being the most commonly used. Microplates can come tailored for a range of applications including cell culture, PCR, filtration, storage, non-binding surface, protein crystallization, as well as pre-coated, deep well and normal Standard microplates. Additionally, options for microplate colors include clear , black, white or black with clear bottom and white with clear bottom for absorbance microplate reader applications. This can reveal information on cell health (apoptosis, cytotoxicity, viability and proliferation assays), cell metabolism, cell migration and cell signaling mechanisms. Find the best cell-based assay products, kits and equipment with our peer reviewed product directory: compare products, check customer reviews and receiving pricing direct from manufacturers.ScintillationScintillation is an analytical technique used to measure the ionizing radiation of an analyte. At the core of a scintillation counter is a sensor and detector, where the sensor is typically a scintillator crystal. Scintillation also includes liquid scintillation, radiometers and particle counters. Key features of scintillator counters include high resolution, automated multi-detection and high counting efficiency.
