Product news

Visit Cleaver Scientific at booth 547 to learn about new high capacity electrophoresis systems which combine the convenience of a small sized gel with the capacity to resolve high numbers of samples. The microDOC™ will also be on display, enabling affordable and simple gel documentation.

Originally acknowledged as a specialist in electrophoresis products, Cleaver Scientific now offers everything from precision manufactured gel tanks to chemicals, gel documentation systems, along with general laboratory and radiation safety products. New products include the microDOC™ which is now assembled in the UK. This includes the highest pixel resolution camera available for an entry-level gel documentation system. It is supplied complete with basic analysis software and a UK made transilluminator.

Also featured at the exhibition will be low voltage electrophoresis systems for education applications, plus affordable high quality power supplies that are also assembled in the UK.

Cleaver Scientific also offers a comprehensive range of vertical gel electrophoresis packages, along with UV sterilisation cabinets which serve as a low-cost alternative to a clean room, plus dry baths & stirring water baths, UV cross linkers and incubators.

Alan Phillips, Sales Manager comments, “The new Cleaver Scientific catalogue illustrates how far the company has progressed in its six year existence.

Apart from being largely UK manufactured our products are acknowledged for their quality and ease-of-use in more than 80 countries worldwide”. He continued, “We aim to set the bench mark in novel solutions for electrophoresis and related techniques. Our new high throughput tanks are ideal for easy loading and identification of large numbers of samples on gels and when used in conjunction with our Gel cutting tips and Safecloner represent the most convenient, safest and DNA damage-free way to clone DNA.”

A new range of fermentation systems further complements the range.

ElectrophoresisElectrophoresis equipment is used to separate mixtures of protein, DNA or RNA, based on their electric charge, size and other physical characteristics, by passing them through a medium such as a polyacrylamide gel, an agarose gel or a capillary tube. Electrophoresis equipment includes horizontal and vertical gel electrophoresis chambers, isoelectric focusing systems, 2D electrophoresis and capillary electrophoresis instruments. Precast gels with a gradient can be used or gels can be hand cast. Samples are run alongside ladders or markers to identify the approximate size of a molecule. Separated proteins and nucleic acids in the gel can be stained or probed with fluorescent markers and then imaged and detected using gel documentation instruments, transilluminators, densitometers and scanners. Explore a range of high-quality polymerase, primers and nucleotides or simplify your workflow with a PCR mastermix. Find reverse transcription PCR (RT-PCR) and cDNA synthesis kits for RNA products and libraries. Quantitatively measure the amplification of DNA with real-time PCR (qPCR) and droplet digital PCR (ddPCR) kits and systems, and discover automated PCR setup solutions to increase throughput. Alternative DNA amplification methods also include recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA) kits. Explore a range of a gel imaging systems, densitometers, scanners, transilluminators or UV lamp + CCD cameras for your image analysis solutions. Colorimetric, fluorescent and/or radioisotopic samples can be visualized and documented for further analysis. Centrifuges come in three sizes: microcentrifuges, benchtop and floor-standing centrifuges, depending on the volume and number of samples that require separation. When choosing a centrifuge, consider its maximum separation power indicated by its relative centrifugal force (RCF) value. Low force centrifuges reach a maximum RCF of 8,000 g, high-force centrifuges can reach maximum RCF values of 80,000 g. For extremely high forces, consider ultracentrifuges (up to 800,000 g). Refrigerated and vacuum centrifuges also known as concentrators are available for more specialized applications. A range of volumes are available for centrifuge tubes and microfuge tubes, depending on sample sizes. Find the best centrifuges in our peer-reviewed product directory: compare products, check customer reviews and receive pricing direct from manufacturers.PumpsLaboratory pumps are devices used to move liquids and gases by vacuum or positive displacement. The pressures/vacuums generated are determined by the type of pump used. High vacuum pumps include diffusion, ion, roots and turbopumps; for primary/medium vacuum applications see rotary vane pumps, scroll & diaphragm pumps. For the positive displacement of liquids explore a range of syringe and peristaltic pumps, as well as fluid aspirators.
