CAMAG is introducing a new software option as part of the well proven winCATS planar chromatography manager. An important characteristic and advantage of thin layer chromatography (TLC/HPTLC) is its visual nature, TLC/HPTLC is the only chromatographic method offering the option of presenting the result as an image.

CAMAG’s new software option Image Comparison Viewer allows to compare tracks of individual samples or groups of samples from different TLC/HPTLC plates directly with each other on the same screen. A list with the identification of the tracks is automatically generated from the existing winCATS analysis files. This new software feature also allows to create archives containing comparison data of different substances or batches.

Image Comparison Viewer is a useful tool for identification and detection of adulteration in the quality control of raw material and finished product as well as in the screening for marker substances and contaminations in forensic, food and environmental analysis.

Data AnalysisData analysis hardware and software is available to make data processing straight-forward yet powerful. Data software can be used for math and stats, technical graphing and image analysis. In addition, software is available for specific data analysis of electrophoresis, densitometry, ELISA and DNA sequencing.Environmental Monitoring and TestingEnvironmental monitoring and testing uses handheld portable analyzers, kits, spectrometers or chromatography systems for air, water, soil, food and other sample testing. Useful features of analyzers such as BOD and COD include portability, easy calibration, automation and sensitivity.  Environmental test kits for pH, water, moisture, etc, should be accurate, sensitive, reliable, fast and easy to use.Thin Layer ChromatographyThin-layer chromatography (TLC), also called planar chromatography, is an inexpensive and simple liquid chromatographic technique used to separate and identify small amounts of compound in a mixture, monitor progress of a reaction or determine purity of substance. TLC plates come in multiple sizes with common adsorbent layers being silica, aluminum oxide or cellulose and high-performance (HP-TLC) plates are also available for increased sensitivity. Other equipment needed includes TLC developing chambers, applicators, TLC sprayers and visualizing devices, such as a viewing cabinet and UV lamp.
