Biotix announces new manufacturing facility to expand production of pipette lines

Biotix, a San Diego based manufacturer of laboratory pipette tips and custom injection molded liquid handling products has turned on the lights in its new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. The facility will expand production of Biotix's Universal and LTS compatible pipette tip lines and OEM consumables business.

The opening of this facility will bring a new standard of quality to pipette tip manufacturing. The upgraded 128,000 square foot building features a dedicated clean room production floor compliant with ISO-8 particulate levels; the entire production space is fully equipped with positive pressure air systems producing up to 20 air changes per hour. Quality was at the top of mind through the whole process and resulted in innovative solutions to improve gowning, material transfers, and overall operational layout above current tip manufacturing standards.

This expansion for Biotix came at the right time, as demand for pipette tips has been unprecedented over the last two years. Companies are prioritizing consumables to labs performing vaccine research and testing for COVID-19 throughout the world. Now, scientists and researchers are returning to work and stuck sourcing alternative consumables from anywhere they can get them, which can have significant impact on precision and reproducibility of continued research. Dan War, chief commercial officer at Biotix said the pandemic "has intensified the need for high quality pipette tips. The new and expanded factory allows Biotix to step-up our efforts in helping to end the pandemic while also suppling our legacy customers that are doing important scientific research all over the world."
