BioTek’s featured life science innovations include:

  • BioSpa Live Cell Imaging System fully automates both fixed and live cell imaging and analysis by combining BioTek’s BioSpa™ 8 Automated Incubator and Cytation™ 5 Cell Imaging Multi-Mode Reader in a single, automated system. BioSpa 8 provides precise environmental control and monitoring for live cell assays in up to 8 lidded or unlidded microplates or other labware. BioSpa incorporates a robotic gripper to move samples from its incubator drawers to Cytation 5 for automated image capture, processing and phenotypic quantitative analysis of live cell assays. Cytation 5’s imaging modes include fluorescence, brightfield, color brightfield and phase contrast up to 60x magnification. BioTek’s washers and dispensers can be added to the system for complete workflow automation.
  • Lionheart™ FX Automated Microscope with Augmented Microscopy™ is a fully-integrated digital microscopy system. Imaging modes include fluorescence, brightfield, color brightfield and phase contrast up to 100x magnification, along with automated image capture, processing and analysis, providing publication-ready images and data. Temperature and gas control, plus an available humidity chamber and reagent injector provide optimal conditions for live cell imaging.
  • EL406™ Washer Dispenser offers fast, full plate washing along with three reagent dispensers in one, compact instrument. Its multiple capabilities include gentle culture media exchanges, reagent additions for cellular assays, washing and dispensing for standard assays, plus biomagnetic separation and vacuum filtration protocols. The patented Dual-Action™ manifold optimizes washing for loosely adherent cell monolayers, while the patented Ultrasonic Advantage™ helps prevent blockages in the manifold tubes before washing, to reduce assay failure.

Cell / Tissue CultureCell culture or tissue culture is used to study the biology of cells or tissues and to isolate cellular products in an environment which can be manipulated and well defined. Accurately control your culture environment with bioreactors or culture incubators, bind your cells to a surface or together with an extracellular matrix. Distinguish cell types with differential media or proliferate cells with certain characteristics using selective media. Enrich your media with supplements such as growth factors, sera and vitamins. Find the best cell and tissue culture products, kits and equipment in our peer-reviewed product directory: compare products, check customer reviews and receive pricing direct from manufacturers.MicrobiologyMicrobiology is the study of microorganisms including protists, prokaryotes, fungi, and, often, viruses. Microorganisms are a useful research tool as genetic vectors and, in immunology, for antibiotic susceptibility testing, cellular biology and genetics. Microorganisms commonly grow readily in incubators with microbial culture media; this can contain chromogenic supplements to differentiate between cell lines. Estimate your culture’s density of microorganisms with colony counters, or screen and select colonies for desirable clones with automated colony pickers. Additionally, equipment is available to monitor environments for the presence of microbes and identify with microbial identification instruments. Such processes use instruments for assays like cell based assays and ELISA, for sample preparation like shakers, centrifuges and incubators, and for analysis such as sequencing and western blot analyzers. Useful features of robotic instruments include speed, reproducibility, barcode readers, software and automation.NeuroscienceNeuroscience research investigates the neurological mechanisms underlying behavior, neurodegenerative diseases, and other brain conditions. Learn about the innovative technologies for bioimaging, electrophysiology, cell culture, chromatography and other techniques used in this field.Digital MicroscopyDigital microscopy involves using digital cameras and sensors to capture high-resolution images of samples for analysis. It offers enhanced imaging capabilities compared to traditional optical microscopy and is widely used in biological and material science research. This technique provides in-depth insight into fast and complex biological processes, by allowing dynamic imaging of living cells instead of acquiring an individual image at a single point in time.Digital ImagingDigital imaging is a technique that captures images of biological and chemical samples in high resolution, often using advanced cameras and sensors. This technology is crucial in microscopy, diagnostics, and quality control.
