Product news

BioTek Instruments, Inc., a global leader in microplate instrumentation technology, will highlight its latest microplate innovations at Experimental Biology 2007, to be held April 28 – May 2, 2007 in Washington, D.C.

Products shown at BioTek booth #648 in the exhibition hall include the ELx405™ Microplate Washer with Ultrasonic Advantage™, the only self-maintaining microplate washer on the market today. The ELx405 includes a built-in ultrasonic cleaner for effortless washer manifold maintenance and guaranteed assay integrity. In addition, the patented Dual-Action™ manifold design provides independent control of aspirate and dispense functions for precise controls of all washing parameters.

The recently released Synergy™ 2 Multi-Detection Microplate Reader with DLReady™ and HTRF® certification is specifically designed to provide research laboratories with performance normally found on high-end HTS instrumentation along with modularity, flexibility and efficient cost-control. Precision measurement techniques include Fluorescence Intensity, Time Resolved Fluorescence, Fluorescence Polarization, Glow and Flash Luminescence, UV-Vis Absorbance, FRET, TR-FRET, BRET, area scanning and spectral scanning.

The Precision™ XS microplate sample processor provides four liquid transfer tools – single-channel pipetting, multi-channel pipetting, 8-channel bulk dispensing, and single-channel aspirate/dispense – on one compact platform for flexible experimental design. Precision Power™ software expands the dynamic capabilities of the instrument with program simulators, sample ID tracking, and more.

Agilent BioTek ELx405 Select Deep Well Washer

Agilent Technologies

The Agilent BioTek ELx405 Select is the first deep well plate washer that aspirates and dispenses into 96- and 384-well deep well and standard height microplates. The ELx405 Select is available in several configurations to address a wide variety of plate washing applications, including ELISA and cell-based assays.

High-Throughput ScreeningHigh-throughput screening (HTS) is an automated drug discovery technique for identification of active compounds against a compound library. Use HTS readers and integrated assay preparation / analysis workstations to screen your compounds. Identify active compounds against various HTS libraries, including membranes, proteins and peptides and HTS cell lines. Microplate readers are generally distinguished by their mode of detection. Types include absorbance, luminescence, fluorescence intensity, fluorescence polarization, TRF / FRET and multimode microplate readers. Microplate readers deliver a high throughput of samples by reading multiple wells simultaneously, with the 96-well format the most commonly used. As a result, microplate readers are often used in the drug discovery, bioassays, research and pharmaceutical industries for screening applications. Microplate loading can also be automated, with robotic microplate stackers to increase throughput.
