Product news

BioTek Instruments, Inc. strengthens its position as the industry leader in microplate washing with the launch of the EL406™ Microplate Washer Dispenser. Defining a new category of Combination Microplate Washer Dispensers, the EL406 is the only instrument on the market to offer fast and full microplate washing along with both peristaltic and microprocessor-controlled syringe drive reagent dispenser technologies to optimize liquid handling processes in microplate format, including complex wash routines. By combining washing and dispensing technologies in one compact unit, users save valuable bench space as well as the expense of multiple dedicated instruments. This is especially valuable in automated systems where many robotic microplate movement steps can be eliminated.

The EL406 integrates both peristaltic and syringe drive dispensing affording the researcher a technology choice for different assay requirements. Up to three reagents may be dispensed at one time using either technology.

Washing is available with up to four buffers, and BioTek's patented Dual Action™ manifold provides independent control of aspirate and dispense functions for precise control of all washing parameters including fragile or loosely adherent cell monolayers. Integrated patent-pending Ultrasonic Advantage provides automatic wash manifold maintenance, thus eliminating clogged manifold tubes, the most common cause of assay failure.

The EL406 may be interfaced with the BioStack™ Microplate Stacker for automated processing of up to fifty standard height microplates.

Plate processing systems include microplate handlers for moving plates, heat sealers, stackers and carousels for storage, retrieval and delivery, microplate washers and piercers. Useful features of plate processors include walk-away automation, compatibility and easy integration with microplate systems.Automated Liquid HandlingAutomated liquid handling equipment is used to mix, dilute and dispense allotted volumes of liquid into microplates and other vessels automatically. The robotic, liquid handling arms can dispense from single channel to 3456 multichannel as well as operate nanoliter dispensing, enabling high throughput of samples.
