Beckman Coulter, Inc. is sponsoring two workshops at this year’s HPLC Symposium in the Budapest Congress and World Trade Centre, from 19 - 23 June 2011. On Tuesday 21 June from 1.30 to 2.30pm in the Mozart Hall, Beckman Coulter will host a seminar on ‘Supercharging your Mass Spectrometer with CESI-MS’ to introduce the new CESI 8000 High-Performance Separation-ESI Module with OptiMS Technology.

It consists of the first commercial CESI sprayer combined with new capillary electrophoresis instrumentation specifically designed for mass spectrometry (MS). The CESI 8000 gives researchers a robust, high-sensitivity interface of capillary electrophoresis (CE) with MS, while providing a broad range of analyte coverage complementary to LC-MS and GC-MS.

In the workshop, scientists working in the field of proteomics and metabolomics will present their research demonstrating how this new technology enables the identification and analysis of molecules altogether missed with existing approaches.

The company will also host a VIP workshop on ‘Expanding the Reach of Mass Spectrometry Through CESI-MS’ on Sunday, 19 June in the Istavan Halasz Hall from 1pm to 3.30pm. This workshop will discuss the most recent work on the advancements of a novel sheathless interface for coupling capillary electrophoresis and electrospray ionization mass spectrometry. The focus will be on optimizing ESI-MS to see what you have been missing.

Beckman Coulter, Inc., based in California, USA, develops, manufactures and markets products that simplify, automate and innovate complex biomedical tests. More than 275,000 Beckman Coulter systems operate in laboratories around the world, supplying critical information for improving patient health and reducing the cost of care. Recurring revenue, consisting of consumable supplies (including reagent test kits), service and operating-type lease payments, represents about 80 percent of the company’s 2010 revenue of $3.7 billion. LC-MSLC-MS (liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry) systems and equipment are used for separation and quantitative analysis of complex mixtures, combining liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry. Quantify proteins, contaminants, pesticides or screen for drug metabolites with a high level of sensitivity. LC-MS systems and equipment include reverse phase, normal phase and specialized columns integrated with various MS detectors such as time-of-flight (TOF), quadrupole, orbitrap or ion trap mass analyzers. LC-MS/MS instruments equipped with a qTOF or triple quadrupole analyzer give greater sensitivity and resolving power to your analysis. It provides detailed information about the structure, composition, and properties of compounds and is widely used across fields such as environmental monitoring, materials science, drug discovery and development, food and beverage testing, and wider chemical research. Key MS techniques include tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS), liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LS-MS) and inductively coupled plasma (ICP-MS). Choosing from these wide range of techniques and technologies can be a daunting task, so keep up to date with scientific applications, performance expectations, and customer reviews here all in one place.
