Micronic Europe BV has announced a new Automatic Tube Decapper that accelerates the time consuming and tedious process of removing caps from sample storage tubes. Easy to install and operate the Automatic Tube Decapper automatically removes and disposes of the caps from a full 96-tube rack in less than 20 seconds.

Operation is safe and user friendly - simply place a rack of capped tubes onto the access tray, push the start button and the Automatic Tube Decapper will in one action gently remove all the caps. Not only does the Automatic Tube Decapper increase productivity but it also reduces the possibility of sample cross-contamination with an integrated cap disposal device that ensures that caps are not reused.

The Automatic Tube Decapper can be used as a stand-alone instrument or can be easily integrated into a fully automated environment. Compatible with most brands of coded tube racks and capping products the new system requires just a mains power source for operation.

Typical applications for the Automatic Tube Decapper include storage of biological materials like DNA, cells, blood, tissue and plant materials as well as compound library storage in drug discovery research.

With the ever-growing requirement for higher sample throughput in many laboratories the new Automatic Tube Decapper enables significant productivity gains to be made in the opening of multiple sample storage tubes.

Dedicated to the design and production of innovative sample storage tubes, accessories and instruments over the last 25 years, Micronic is uniquely able to offer laboratories the expert advice to help them safeguard one of its most valuable assets - its samples.

Genome AnalysisGenomics, the study of genomes, includes functional genomics, evolutionary genomics and comparative genomics. There are many genomic technologies such as DNA sequencing of whole genomes, computational biology and bioinformatics. DNA and nucleic acids must be isolated and concentrated from cells for analysis with kits, automated analyzers and software. Other useful technologies for studying genomics include PCR, microarrays and electrophoresis.MicroplatesMicroplates are multi-well plates used to increase the throughput of biological investigations. The number of wells microplates contain can range from 6 to 3243 wells, with the 96-well format being the most commonly used. Microplates can come tailored for a range of applications including cell culture, PCR, filtration, storage, non-binding surface, protein crystallization, as well as pre-coated, deep well and normal Standard microplates. Additionally, options for microplate colors include clear , black, white or black with clear bottom and white with clear bottom for absorbance microplate reader applications. This can reveal information on cell health (apoptosis, cytotoxicity, viability and proliferation assays), cell metabolism, cell migration and cell signaling mechanisms. Find the best cell-based assay products, kits and equipment with our peer reviewed product directory: compare products, check customer reviews and receiving pricing direct from manufacturers.DNA / RNA Extraction and PurificationPurified DNA and RNA are required for numerous downstream molecular biology applications. Consequently, the importance of high-quality DNA/RNA extraction and purification equipment cannot be underestimated. Many purification kits are available and are typically optimized for nucleic acid type and source, including plasmid DNA, genomic DNA, mRNA, RNA and viral nucleic acid purification kits. Automated extraction and purification of nucleic acids can be implemented with magnetic bead separator instruments or high-throughput purification workstations. Find the best DNA/RNA extraction and purification equipment in our peer-reviewed product directory: compare products, check customer reviews and receive pricing direct from manufacturers.RNA InterferenceRNA interference (RNAi) uses siRNA or miRNA for transcriptional silencing, gene knockdown and regulation of gene expression. RNAi requires chemical synthesis, introduction of DNA vectors into cells, an assay of RNAi effects and RNAi quantification or analysis. Consider target sequence selection, reagent preparation, controls, high specificity and effectiveness and low non-specific gene knockdown.
