Product news

The NEW Copas Plus for high-throughput analysis and sorting of human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPS) clusters using large particle flow cytometry. The reprogramming of somatic cells into hiPS cells has created opportunities for producing disease and patient specific human cell products. Therefore there is a need to produce a high number of hiPS cell lines to standardize protocols and to deliver fully characterized cells.

Union Biometrica’s large particle flow cytometers allow the analysis and sorting of intact hiPS cell clusters from a complex mixture of varying sizes based on size, optical density and fluorescent parameters. This process is gentle and does not influence the morphology or viability compared to manually sorted cell clusters. COPAS™ Large Particle Flow Cytometers

Union Biometrica, Inc.

COPAS instruments provide flow cytometry for objects that are too large for traditional cytometers and offer an alternative to manual sorting (under a microscope). These systems sort and dispense objects based on size and fluorescent parameters. Automating this process offers increased speed, sensitivity, quantification, and repeatability of experiments.

Useful system features include high-throughput, automation, robotic arms, automated liquid handling and associated database systems. Accessories in sample management include barcode scanners, heat sealers and tubes.Flow Cytometry / Cell CountingFlow cytometers are used to count, sort and examine multiple characteristics of cells. Other cell analysis equipment includes image cytometers, cell counters, fluorescence-activated cell sorters (FACS), magnetic-activated cell sorters (MACS), and a range of flow cytometry assay kits. Flow cytometers can reveal information on cell viability, cell proliferation, apoptosis and cell cycle progression, as well as identify cell populations and intracellular or cell-surface molecules. Additionally, some flow cytometers, known as FACS, have an additional sorting function after analysis. Cell counters and image cytometers count live and dead cell populations and can also conduct cell proliferation assays.
