Product news

Aurora® Biotechnologies today announced that it has formally launched a new series of 384-well microplates for the life science research market. The 384-IQ™ microplates are optimal for imaging and high-content screening applications.

“We are thrilled to provide the research marketplace an extension of our inimitable and valuable microplate designs in a 384-well format. The use of Cyclo-Olefin Polymer (COP) has proven to enhance performance in many sensitive assays, and has worked very well for high-content imaging,” stated Peter Coassin, CTO, Aurora Biotechnologies. “Our new products address the demanding needs of the imaging and HCS scientists who require a high-performing imaging microplate with extraordinary flatness and optical clarity properties, at a price point superior to other comparable microplate options.”

The 384-IQ™ microplates are available in black, white, and clear with options for solid or film bottoms. The new microplates also offer a unique Evaporation Barrier Well Design for the control of evaporative edge effects. The microplates are available with either chamfered-square wells or low volume round wells. All plate configurations meet SBS and ANSI standard requirements. The new 384-well microplates are made from the same high-performance COP that is exclusive to Aurora Biotechnologies’ current 1536-well and 3456-well microplate products.

MicroplatesMicroplates are multi-well plates used to increase the throughput of biological investigations. The number of wells microplates contain can range from 6 to 3243 wells, with the 96-well format being the most commonly used. Microplates can come tailored for a range of applications including cell culture, PCR, filtration, storage, non-binding surface, protein crystallization, as well as pre-coated, deep well and normal Standard microplates. Additionally, options for microplate colors include clear , black, white or black with clear bottom and white with clear bottom for absorbance microplate reader applications.
