Artel, the leader in liquid handling quality assurance, will hold its popular Pipetting Challenge again this year in the company’s booth – #2453 – at the AACC Annual Meeting and Clinical Lab Expo. The competition, held annually since 1997, helps professionals test and improve their critical pipetting skills while competing for daily prizes including medals, new pipettes and the grand prize of an iPad Mini. Eppendorf, Gilson, Hamilton and Sartorius are the four manufacturers providing pipettes for the event.

The Artel Pipetting Challenge, which the company holds at conferences and events throughout the year, uses the Artel PCS® Pipette Calibration System to test participants’ precision. The system gives a percent coefficient of variation (CV) score on the pipetting of five replicates. Artel personnel also provide pipetting technique tips from the company’s certification program to help each contestant improve performance.

“The competition actually makes you think about how technique with manual pipettes varies depending on the user,” said Alison Bua-Demus, marketing specialist at Gilson. “The program supports our own emphasis on accuracy and reproducible results.”

Daniela Marino, product manager at Eppendorf North America, added, “The Artel Pipetting Challenge is an exciting way to keep lab professionals’ pipette accuracy in check.”

“We are proud that several past winners were using our Softgrip* Pipettes,” commented Jason March, director of marketing for Hamilton Company. “This great event really accents the comfort and quality in our pipettes.”

Melissa Winters, field marketing manager at Sartorius stated, “Sartorius is excited to participate in this year’s Artel Pipetting Challenge. It gives attendees who might not be using our pipettes the opportunity to evaluate their ergonomics and precision."

“Our entire company and the products we deliver are focused on enabling the highest quality liquid handling,” explained A. Bjoern Carle, product manager at Artel. “The Pipetting Challenge enables participants to see and improve their own performance precision, while having fun at the same time. Earning a medal validates the skill needed for the life-saving work laboratory scientists perform every day. Clinicians are already talking about the upcoming challenge on social media.”
