Artel, a leader in consistently high standards for liquid handling instruments and processes, is proud to have announced that their Calibration Laboratory has earned accreditation by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) to International Organization for Standardization (ISO)/International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 17025:2005 for calibration certificate number 2093.03 and chemical testing certificate number 2093.01. The Calibration Laboratory is an independent entity that performs photometric absorbance testing calibrations and gravimetric calibrations of liquid volumes via methods traceable to International Systems of Units (SI). Having met or exceeded all competency requirements of testing and calibration laboratories for the field calibration service of liquid handling systems, customers can expect a consistently high level of accuracy. Prior to these most recent accreditations, the Calibration Laboratory passed 8 consecutive ISO/IEC 17025 assessments.

“Artel’s Calibration Laboratory has always held itself to extremely strict standards,” says Cary Ouellette, QA Manager, Artel. “This most recent A2LA accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025:2005 shows a unique commitment to good laboratory practice that translates to the highest quality testing and calibration in our customers’ labs.”

ISO/IEC 17025:2005 lays out the general requirements for competence to carry out tests and/or calibrations – including sampling – using standard, non-standard and laboratory-developed methods. ISO/IEC 17025:2005 was developed to help laboratories establish management systems for quality, administrative and technical operations. In addition, lab customers, and regulatory and accreditation bodies use it to determine the overall competence of laboratories.

A2LA is a non-profit membership association with over 35 years of experience providing internationally-recognized accreditation and training services. A2LA is recognized by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) as an Accreditation Body offering Notified Body (NB) accreditation under ISO/IEC 17025:2005. ISO/IEC is a joint technical committee of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) formed to consolidate standards in information technology (IT) and information and communications technology (ICT).
