Product news

The Aquatrode plus with plug-in head from Metrohm has been specially developed for measurements and titrations in low-ion and poorly buffered samples, such as surface waters and deionized water.

The major benefits include:

• Special membrane glass with low resistance for measurement in low-ion solutions. This guarantees very short response times even in difficult samples
• Fixed ground-joint diaphragm with low resistance and very low, clearly defined electrolyte flow for fast, very accurate and reproducible pH measurement / titration
• Double-junction design with maintenance-free inner electrolyte (gel) enables the bridge electrolyte to be adapted to the measurement conditions
• Screening of the inner tube prevents interference due to static electricity
• In addition to these advantages, the Aquatrode plus now offers easy storage / fast electrode replacement / complete flexibility due to its removable cable.

ElectrophoresisElectrophoresis equipment is used to separate mixtures of protein, DNA or RNA, based on their electric charge, size and other physical characteristics, by passing them through a medium such as a polyacrylamide gel, an agarose gel or a capillary tube. Electrophoresis equipment includes horizontal and vertical gel electrophoresis chambers, isoelectric focusing systems, 2D electrophoresis and capillary electrophoresis instruments. Precast gels with a gradient can be used or gels can be hand cast. Samples are run alongside ladders or markers to identify the approximate size of a molecule. Separated proteins and nucleic acids in the gel can be stained or probed with fluorescent markers and then imaged and detected using gel documentation instruments, transilluminators, densitometers and scanners. Other meters can also measure the conductivity or dissolved oxygen content of a solution. pH meters, specific ion meters, conductivity meters and dissolved oxygen meters can come as benchtop or portable equipment. A meter’s electrodes can be replaced with easy to clean electrodes or electrodes for difficult media. pH, ion and conductivity meters are typically used in life science research, pharmaceutical testing, food and beverage, environmental and water analysis. Useful features of analyzers such as BOD and COD include portability, easy calibration, automation and sensitivity.  Environmental test kits for pH, water, moisture, etc, should be accurate, sensitive, reliable, fast and easy to use.pH and Conductivity MetersIon and pH meters, used for electrochemical techniques and measurements, measure the concentration of specific ions using electrodes (probes) and a meter. Features of ph and ion meters to consider include temperature compensation, auto-calibration, adjustable resolution, measurable range and accuracy. Meters can be handheld, portable, benchtop and modular.Surface Water Probe
