Product news

Allprotect and AllPrep sample technologies from QIAGEN standardize and streamline sample preparation for systems biology. Allprotect Tissue Reagent immediately stabilizes DNA, RNA, and protein in tissue samples for long-term storage without freezing. The AllPrep DNA/RNA/Protein Mini Kit allows simultaneous purification of these 3 analytes from the same precious sample.

By immediately submerging fresh tissues in Allprotect Tissue Reagent, the in vivo profile of DNA, RNA, and protein is preserved. Tissues are conveniently stabilized at room temperature and can be safely stored for up to 6 months at 2–8ºC, or longer at –20ºC or –80ºC. Tissues also remain stabilized at 15–25ºC for up to 7 days, allowing shipment without ice or dry ice.

With the AllPrep DNA/RNA/Protein Mini Kit, separate fractions of DNA, RNA, and protein are simultaneously purified from the same tissue sample in a simple spin-column–based procedure without phenol and acetone. There is no need to split the sample into three prior to purification, allowing maximal recovery of DNA, RNA, and protein.

Genomic DNA and total RNA purified using combined Allprotect and AllPrep sample technologies deliver optimal performance in all downstream applications, including real-time PCR and real-time RT-PCR. The purified total protein, which is obtained using a novel aqueous protein precipitation solution, is highly suited for SDS-PAGE and western blotting.

Functional protein suitable for enzyme assays can be purified from Allprotect stabilized tissues using the Qproteome Mammalian Protein Prep Kit. QIAGEN® sample technologies for purification of DNA or RNA, such as DNeasy®, RNeasy®, and QIAamp® Kits, are also compatible with Allprotect stabilized tissues.

Allprotect Tissue Reagent, AllPrep Kits, Qproteome Kits, DNeasy Kits, and RNeasy Kits are intended for research use. The RNeasy Mini Kit, RNeasy Protect Mini Kit, RNeasy Protect Saliva Mini Kit, and QIAamp Kits are intended for general laboratory use. No claim or representation is intended to provide information for the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of a disease.

ElectrophoresisElectrophoresis equipment is used to separate mixtures of protein, DNA or RNA, based on their electric charge, size and other physical characteristics, by passing them through a medium such as a polyacrylamide gel, an agarose gel or a capillary tube. Electrophoresis equipment includes horizontal and vertical gel electrophoresis chambers, isoelectric focusing systems, 2D electrophoresis and capillary electrophoresis instruments. Precast gels with a gradient can be used or gels can be hand cast. Samples are run alongside ladders or markers to identify the approximate size of a molecule. Separated proteins and nucleic acids in the gel can be stained or probed with fluorescent markers and then imaged and detected using gel documentation instruments, transilluminators, densitometers and scanners. Products to assist sample preparation include filtration equipment, evaporators, membranes and sieves.Western BlottingWestern blotting equipment is used to transfer and identify specific proteins within a sample, reveal protein modifications, as well as give a semi-quantitative estimation of their concentration. Western blotting equipment includes all apparatus necessary to transfer proteins from gel to membrane and subsequent processing steps. Protein transfer can be performed by electroblotting with wet, semi-dry and dry transfer systems onto nitrocellulose and PVDF membranes. Blocking, washing and labeling of membranes follows, involving buffers, blocking reagents, blotting / incubation trays, labeling reagents, immunoblotting assays, antibodies and conjugates. Automated equipment for these steps is available to accelerate your lab workflow. Finally, detection and imaging of proteins can be conducted using gel documentation and imaging systems. There are many genomic technologies such as DNA sequencing of whole genomes, computational biology and bioinformatics. DNA and nucleic acids must be isolated and concentrated from cells for analysis with kits, automated analyzers and software. Other useful technologies for studying genomics include PCR, microarrays and electrophoresis.PCR and Thermal CyclingPolymerase chain reaction (PCR) kits and thermal cyclers are used for the in vitro amplification of DNA permitting subsequent analysis and experimental procedures. Explore a range of high-quality polymerase, primers and nucleotides or simplify your workflow with a PCR mastermix. Find reverse transcription PCR (RT-PCR) and cDNA synthesis kits for RNA products and libraries. Quantitatively measure the amplification of DNA with real-time PCR (qPCR) and droplet digital PCR (ddPCR) kits and systems, and discover automated PCR setup solutions to increase throughput.
