ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, introduces the new TALYS ASP500 Series. This fiber optics based industrial FT-NIR analyzer represents the latest advances in process analytics for chemical industries. The TALYS™ is used for reactor profiling, real-time determination of process end-point, cycle-time reduction, process characterization and early troubleshooting.

The TALYS™ analyzer is flexible and supports various configurable sample accessories such as; transmission, transflectance, and diffuse reflectance probes as well as flow-through cells to meet wide measurement needs for liquid and powder sample applications. This new generation of analyzer captures over 30 years of expertise in process spectroscopy implementation by ABB in close partnership with chemical customers.

The TALYS™ ASP500 Series design is optimized in order to minimize the complexity and burden traditionally associated with process equipment implementation. This analyzer has minimal footprint and can be shelf-mounted or wall-mounted in a safe area without requiring additional enclosure.

It also features an embedded processor therefore no external computer is needed. Once configured for an intended measurement, the analyzer continuously monitors and provides analysis results as well as the instrument health monitoring utility status over standard Ethernet communication link. Concentrations and status information are also displayed on the touch screen which supports multiple languages to ease use by plant operators. The analyzer may be easily updated to measure new or different chemical streams. A USB key interface is used to update analysis configuration as well as to extract spectral data or measurement reports from the analyzer.

“Measurement made easy” has been integral to the TALYS™ design concept. The ease of implementation and also the ease of use have been built into the core design while maintaining state-of-the-art performance and robustness for industrial use which is strongly associated with ABB’s line of analytical solutions. The analyzer lifetime is extended well beyond industry standard and is designed for field serviceability of all components eliminating the need of a spare analyzer for service. See this brand new analyzer at PITTCON 2013 from March 17 - 21 in booth #3119 — Pennsylvania Convention Center, Philadelphia, PA, USA.
