AB SCIEX, Phenomenex and Peak Scientific are taking a mobile laboratory across Europe. The European MASStastic Voyage Tour will provide “open house” opportunities for anyone interested in using mass spectrometry and separation science to solve analytical challenges. Next week this state-of-the-art LC/MS/MS laboratory-on-wheels will be open to visitors outside the site of the EBF Conference, a gathering of pharmaceutical scientists in Barcelona. The tour will make stops in cities across Europe in the new year, including a special appearance at the Berliner Symposium of mass spectrometry users in Germany on April 9, 2013.

Experts in LC/MS/MS solutions from AB SCIEX, Phenomenex and Peak Scientific are on board the mobile laboratory, available to talk to scientists and lab technicians from industry and academia about a broad array of topics, including drug discovery and development, environmental analysis, and small molecule and peptide quantitation.

Changes in European regulations, along with demands for faster, more accurate results and the emergence of next-generation technologies, are spurring questions about how analytical labs can keep up with the rapid pace of change. Q&A sessions on board the European MASStastic Voyage are designed to help answer these questions, along with showing fully-functional mass spectrometry equipment in operation.

“Because of the sweeping changes happening in Europe, the interest in advanced LC/MS/MS solutions is expanding quickly across the continent, but not everyone can come to an AB SCIEX event or a major trade show, so we are taking a next-generation lab to them with our European MASStastic Voyage,” said Fedja Bobanovic, Vice President of EMEA Sales & Support, AB SCIEX. “We will be able to show demos, run samples, talk about the data in depth and give scientists and applied market lab personnel useful tips on how to improve their analyses.”

On board the MASStastic Voyage mobile lab will be recently released laboratory technologies designed specifically for a number of laboratory applications commonly used in European laboratories. This MASStastic Voyage Tour will crisscross Europe during the first half of 2013.

“The European MASStastic Voyage mobile lab tour became a reality because of the overwhelming positive and enthusiastic response from analytical scientists from a similar tour throughout North America earlier this year,” said Michael McGinley, Phenomenex HPLC Product Manager. “The mass spectrometry expertise of AB SCIEX along with the separation science expertise of Phenomenex has proved to be a potent combination for solving the most urgent and challenging analytical needs of scientists everywhere. This mobile laboratory allows users to see the latest advances in technology and integrated solutions right at their doorstep.”

UHPLC and HPLCHigh performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and ultra high performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC), also known as UPLC, are analytical techniques used to separate, identify and quantitate components of complex mixtures including biological samples such as proteins and lipids as well as chemical mixtures of pesticides, drugs and oils. Both techniques are liquid chromatographic methods but differ by operating pressures (HPLC < 6000 psi < UHPLC ). Components of HPLC and UHPLC systems include columns, detectors, pumps, autosamplers and column heaters. Explore a range of UHPLC and HPLC columns for your specific sample needs including reverse phase, normal phase, ion exchange, HILIC, ion exclusion and size exclusion columns. For more specialized HPLC, explore FPLC, countercurrent LC and simulated moving bed systems. Quantify proteins, contaminants, pesticides or screen for drug metabolites with a high level of sensitivity. LC-MS systems and equipment include reverse phase, normal phase and specialized columns integrated with various MS detectors such as time-of-flight (TOF), quadrupole, orbitrap or ion trap mass analyzers. LC-MS/MS instruments equipped with a qTOF or triple quadrupole analyzer give greater sensitivity and resolving power to your analysis. It provides detailed information about the structure, composition, and properties of compounds and is widely used across fields such as environmental monitoring, materials science, drug discovery and development, food and beverage testing, and wider chemical research. Key MS techniques include tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS), liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LS-MS) and inductively coupled plasma (ICP-MS). Choosing from these wide range of techniques and technologies can be a daunting task, so keep up to date with scientific applications, performance expectations, and customer reviews here all in one place.
