Product news

Greiner Bio-One has expanded its microplate product portfolio with the introduction
of the new black 96 well SCREENSTAR microplate.

Manufactured entirely out of cycloolefin, an innovative material with glass-like optical properties, SCREENSTAR delivers outstanding optical performance under high magnification and high resolution microscopy. The enhanced image quality of the contents of the well is provided by the 190 µm thick, clear film bottom.

One of the microplates’ key advantages, over other plates for high-resolution microscopy, is the extremely short distance between the well bottom and the microplate skirt (internal well to skirt bottom = 0.7 mm; external well to skirt bottom = 0.51 mm),This allows high magnification objectives at perimeter wells without complex microscopic adjustments. The circular wells permit microscopic work without disruptive shadowing using the smallest possible meniscus lens. The perimeter trough can be filled with water or medium to reduce edge effect caused by evaporation, especially for long incubation periods.
Greiner Bio-One cell culture treatment guarantees quality and ensures reliable, uniform cell growth.

The 96 well SCREENSTAR microplates are available in black with a 190 µm clear film bottom, cell culture treated, sterile, with lid, individually packed. The microplate well bottoms are protected by a film that must be removed prior to use.

SCREENSTAR microplates are available in the 1536 and 96 well format. 384 well SCREENSTAR microplates are under development and will be launched soon.

MicroplatesMicroplates are multi-well plates used to increase the throughput of biological investigations. The number of wells microplates contain can range from 6 to 3243 wells, with the 96-well format being the most commonly used. Microplates can come tailored for a range of applications including cell culture, PCR, filtration, storage, non-binding surface, protein crystallization, as well as pre-coated, deep well and normal Standard microplates. Additionally, options for microplate colors include clear , black, white or black with clear bottom and white with clear bottom for absorbance microplate reader applications.
