Scientists worldwide have been voting in the 2022 Scientists’ Choice Awards® for Sustainable Laboratory Products of the Year.

Now in their 16th year, the Scientists’ Choice Awards are unique in the industry as they are chosen by scientists and healthcare professionals. Each year, we invite scientists around the globe to participate by nominating, reviewing, and voting for the lab products that have had the greatest impact on their work. This year, we invited scientists to vote in a new award category that recognizes the laboratory product or service that scientists view as having significantly helped reduce the environmental impact of their laboratory research – read on to learn more about this year’s winners and nominees.

Sustainable Product of the Year in the reducing consumables and reagents category

The award for Sustainable Product of the Year in the reducing consumables and reagents category goes to the CellDrop™ Cell Counters by DeNovix.

The CellDrop Cell Counters allow users to count cells without the use of plastic slides. DirectPipette™ Technology eliminates plastic slides and cumbersome hemocytometers from routine cell counting by adding a simple load, count, and wipe clean workflow.

Labware and Lab SuppliesLabware and lab supplies include various forms of glassware, plasticware, reagents and personal protective equipment (PPE) and are used across all scientific laboratories, enabling daily tasks to be performed. Explore a range of flasks and beakers, petri dishes, carboys and storage bottles. Labware such as condensers, desiccators and burettes are also available for more specific tasks. Find the best labware and lab supplies in our peer-reviewed product directory: compare products, check customer reviews and receive pricing direct from manufacturers.Flow Cytometry / Cell CountingFlow cytometers are used to count, sort and examine multiple characteristics of cells. Other cell analysis equipment includes image cytometers, cell counters, fluorescence-activated cell sorters (FACS), magnetic-activated cell sorters (MACS), and a range of flow cytometry assay kits. Flow cytometers can reveal information on cell viability, cell proliferation, apoptosis and cell cycle progression, as well as identify cell populations and intracellular or cell-surface molecules. Additionally, some flow cytometers, known as FACS, have an additional sorting function after analysis. Cell counters and image cytometers count live and dead cell populations and can also conduct cell proliferation assays. Find the best flow cytometers, cell counters and cell sorters in our peer-reviewed product directory: compare products, check customer reviews and receive pricing direct from manufacturers.Water PurificationThere are a number of water purification methods available to remove contamination from laboratory water. These systems include demineralization, reverse osmosis, filtration and ultrafiltration. A combination of methods is sometimes necessary to achieve purified water suitable for use in experiments.Scientists Choice AwardsEach year, the SelectScience Scientists' Choice Awards celebrate the best products in the industry, as nominated and voted for by our scientist members.
